The Lord says that He has redeemed or purchased us with His own blood. We are His possession. However, He also says that we are His alone because we were purchased with His own blood.

This means that He will act as our guardian in this life and in our next lives. We are safe in His care and no matter how much trouble we find ourselves in, He will still be there to guide us safely through it all.
